The winner of the five-kilometer open water swimming event at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships, Hungary's Kristóf Rasovszky won the men's race this year's cross-Balaton swim with compatriot Olympic swimmer Anna Olasz taking gold in the women's field.
The 23-year-old world champion completed the classic 5,200-meter distance between Révfülöp and Balatonboglár in about 57 minutes, surpassing Márk Papp's 2016 record of 58:33 minutes.
Among the women, Anna Olasz was the fastest, finishing in 1 hour 01.37 seconds.
Gábor Gellért, the head coach of the open water swimming team, said that almost all members of the junior and adult teams took part in the event, in addition to pool competitor Ajna Késely.
