The number of people diagnosed with coronavirus has increased by 510 in the last 24 hours in Hungary. There are 7,892 confirmed people infected with the coronavirus. In compulsory home quarantine: 16,438. Recovered: 3,952. Deceased: 624.

The total number of active COVID-19 cases is 3,316. The results show that 43% of those infected, 59% of the deceased, and 42% of those recovered live in Budapest. There are currently 139 patients hospitalized with the coronavirus, nine of whom are on ventilators.

According to the government website, these are the the latest travel restrictions (and the exceptions) applied in Hungary:

  • Starting September 1, foreigners (except foreign nationals with Hungarian residency, who are treated as Hungarian citizens) are only allowed to enter Hungary if it’s absolutely necessary.
  • Based on bilateral agreements, V4 citizens who previously booked trips to Hungary may enter the country with one negative coronavirus test.
  • Hungarians returning from abroad must undergo a medical examination upon arrival and either go into self-quarantine for 14 days or present two negative SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests.
  • Transit through Hungary is possible, provided travelers do not leave the designated transit corridor and leave Hungary within 24 hours of entry.

They also call attention that it is still vital for everyone to maintain a distance of 1.5 meters and cover their face in shops and on public transport within Hungary.
