Each year, more than a hundred Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies around the world organize events and ceremonies on the second Saturday of September to raise public awareness of how first aid can save lives in everyday and crisis situations.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) introduced World First Aid Day in 2000. The IFRC believes that first aid should be accessible to all – including the most vulnerable, and should also be an integral part of a wider developmental approach. With first aid skills volunteers and communities are empowered to save lives without discrimination.
In connection with this world day, the Hungarian Red Cross' Hero Training Campaign draws attention to the importance of acquiring safe first aid skills this year as well.
This fall, it was the for the fourth time that the Hungarian Red Cross started this campaign, which promotes first aid. This year, the campaign focuses on the effective control of the coronavirus epidemic until the end of November.
