This Thursday saw the opening of the Hungary-Latin America Forum in the Hungarian capital. The two-day event focuses on three topics: inter-governmental links and business ties in industrial and economic areas where Hungary can help Latin American countries, for instance in water, waste management and energy, as well as education and science links to mobilise students and teachers.
The opening speeches were delivered by, among others, Costa Rica’s Foreign Minister Manuel González Sanz, Cuba’s first deputy foreign minister Antonio Luis Carricarte Corona, Paraguay’s Minister of Industry and Trade Oscar Stark Robledo and Hungary's Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó.
Roland Schafer, Director for the Americas at the European External Action Service, said Hungary and Latin American can mutually learn from each other in economic and security policy issues.
