Many people across the country light candles and candles in memory of their deceased loved ones, and visit the graves of their relatives in cemeteries on All Souls Day this Monday.
In order for people to cherish this tradition of remembering their deceased loved ones, public cemeteries in Budapest and other major cities are open for longer until this Monday. In cemetery offices, it id compulsory to wear mask and use hand sanitizer.
The Day of the Dead - as it is known in Hungary today - has gradually evolved from a religious holiday into a general commemoration of departed loved ones.
