Péter Lakatos, a photographer contracted with the Hungarian News Agency MTI, has won 1st prize in the spot news singles category of the 54th World Press Photo contest, selected from the best photos made in 2010.
Lakatos's image shows the suicide jump of a man in his fifties who first set himself on fire and then jumped off the top of a Budapest bridge.
The image entitled Suicide Jump was taken on May 22, 2010 and shows the man covered in flames falling from Szabadság bridge.
