Electric Buses Put in Service in Paks Local Transport

Electric motor driven buses will replace the diesel vehicles from February 1 in local public transport in Paks, south of Budapest.

According to the information of the local government, from Monday, the service will be provided by Paks Bus Transport Ltd., owned by the town, replacing Volánbusz.
There will be 12 Polish Solaris buses, manufactiured in Poland, with a capacity of 200 and 250 kilowatt hours on local routes. The local government acquired the vehicles and the charging infrastructure for HUF 1.7 billion with the support of the Integrated Transport Development Operational Program.
With an annual mileage of 561,000 kilometers, an electric bus cancels out 512.21 tons of CO2 emission. The buses are powered by electricity from the Paks Nuclear Power Plant and renewable energy from solar power plants.
