Daily Fatality Record Takes COVID-19 Death Tally Over 19,000

Once again, more people died of the new coronavirus infection in one day in Hungary than ever before: 272 more victims were reported on Thursday morning. This increased the official number of COVID-19 related deaths to 19,224.

The number of new infections was 9,637, bringing the total number of identified infections to 603,347 since the outbreak began. The number of active infections also rose to around the peak of the second wave, at 196,553. 35,417 tests were performed, and the hit rate is still very high at 27%.

11,760 coronavirus patients are hospitalized, a slight decrease from the previous day.

However, the number of people on ventilator has increased: as many as 1,467 people need mechanical ventilation.
