A 100-kilogram Soviet aerial bomb was defused and another aerial bomb remnant was found by the Hungarian Armed Forces in the Danube near the Chain Bridge on Sunday morning.

After retrieving the device found in the Danube riverbed, the bomb disposal team identified it as a 100-kilogram Soviet aerial bomb. The sharp nose fuse of the device was removed. A search of the site also revealed the remains of a 250-kg Soviet aerial bomb. However, it did not contain an incendiary device.

Both devices was transported by water from the site by the bomb disposal experts and then taken to the central collection point of the Hungarian Defence Forces for later destruction.

The evacuation and closure of several busy road sections, including that of public transport, within a radius of about 300 metres, ordered for the duration of the works, were lifted in the afternoon.
