This winter has so far been unseasonably mild in Hungary. Daily heat records were broken again this Friday afternoon with over 12 degrees Celsius measured in Budapest and over 15 degrees in Békéscsaba in the southeast of the country.
According to the National Weather Service, ntil now, the warmest on a December 27 in Budapest was 12.2 degrees in 1974. Now, a slightly higher temperature, 12.4 degrees, was measured in the south of the capital.
The national record on this day was 15.1 degrees so far, registered in 2004 in Körösszakál, SE Hungary. This Friday afternoon Békéscsaba, in the same region, was nearly a half degrees warmer as the temperature rose to 15.5 degrees.
