340 new infections were confirmed over this past long weekend, bringing the total number of identified infections to 811,121 in the country since the start of the outbreak. Six patients have died, bringing the total number of deaths to 30 052, according to the government website coronavirus.gov.hu.
The business news site portfolio.hu reports that the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus is on the rise, with more infections identified than in the same period last week.
This Monday's case numbers should be treated with caution in several respects, the news site says. Firstly, unlike usual practice, they include data from four days rather than three, as there was no data release on the August 20, holiday. On the other hand, the long weekend was certainly a period of low test capacity.
During the four days, 340 new cases were confirmed, compared to 292 during the corresponding period the previous week. All this shows that the number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Hungary has been on a slow upward trajectory.
