Qatar Airways flies to Budapest

Qatar Airways operate four Airbus A320 flights a week between Budapest and Doha International Airport with a short stopover in Bucharest as of this January. Direct flights will start in September.

Qatar Airways is the first airline company from the Gulf region to fly a destination in the CEE region. Its Chief Executive Officer, Akbar Al Baker told a press conference in Budapest Tuesday that the Budapest-Doha flights cut the flight time of Budapest passengers to the Orient and the South Pacific by some six hours as they no longer need to fly to a Western European hub.

He added that the new flight - four times a week - is an important step for the airline company's development of its European network.

The airline company that employs 13,000 people only uses aircraft not older than five years. Planes becoming redundant this way are placed in the hands of Qatar Airways' own leasing company that leases them to other airlines.

On the Doha-Budapest, Budapest-Doha routes, the Bucharest stopover will be eliminated from this September and planes will fly directly between the two destinations.
