Rail traffic between Hungary and Croatia suspended months ago due to the flow of illegal migrants has been resumed in the spirit of the fact that the two countries have always regarded each other as good neighbours and important partners.
On the occasion of the decision of resuming rail passenger traffic between the two countries, Hungary’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Croatia’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs pointed out that the two nations have always regarded each other as good neighbours and important partners. There are a number of joint infrastructure, energy and economy related developments on the agenda at the moment that still have to be implemented.
As a result of the decision to resume the rail traffic, law-abiding citizens who comply with the regulations can cross the borders again by rail. At the same time those disregarding regulations and crossing the borders illegally must be stopped, a statment by the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade points out.
The document says this decision is the first manifestation of the reinforcement of Hungarian-Croatian bilateral relations that was brought about at high-level political meetings after the establishment of the new Croatian government.
Both Foreign Ministries are of the opinion that this measure will contribute to the improvement of relations in the field of transportation and to the cooperation of the two countries, and it will benefit the citizens of both countries.
