The 248 deaths in the past three days, most of them elderly, chronic patients, bring the official total number of deaths to 39,434. The number of people recovered is now 1,121,823 and the number of active infected persons has decreased to 101,023, according to the related government website.
In the past three days, a total of 5,865 new infections have been confirmed, bringing the total number of identified infections to 1,262,280 since the start of the outbreak.
3,313 patients with coronavirus are in hospital, 318 of whom are on ventilators.
The total number of vaccinated persons is 6,266,483, of whom 5,982,104 have already received their second vaccination and 3,178,228 have already received their confirmatory third vaccination. More than 87,000 vaccinations were administered during the holidays.
