In Hungary, there are 3,997 patients with the new coronavirus infection in hospital, 148 of whom are on ventilators. The last time the number of people in hospital was under 4,000 and the number on ventilators under 150 was a month ago, according to the related government website koronavirus.gov.hu.
4,498 new infections have been confirmed in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of identified infections to 1,779,174 since the start of the outbreak.
The deaths of 88 mostly elderly, chronic patients brought the total official number of fatalities in the COVID-19 pandemic to 43,752.
The number of cured persons decreased to 1,566,509 and the number of active infected persons decreased to 168,913. The latter is a decrease of approximately 5,000 compared to the previous day.
The total number of vaccinated persons is 6,391,940, of whom 6,163,700 are on their second vaccination and 3,801,276 are on their third.
