Transit Station Created for Ukrainian Refugees

The Hungarian government has ordered the evacuation of the refugee reception stations at Budapest's Keleti and Nyugati railway stations, where NGOs have been helping refugees from Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion. These stations will now be used only as information points, and refugees fleeing the war will be transferred by bus from the two stations to the BOK event hall near the Keleti station.

In the hall, refugees will find food, drink, medical care, toilet facilities, a baby-momma corner for mothers with small children, a play corner for children, and information on accommodation and other travel options. In addition to basic necessities, there are also telephone charging facilities and internet access, and those who wish to continue their journey will be transported to train stations or Liszt Ferenc Airport.

For those who wish to stay in Hungary for a few days only, humanitarian organisations will provide accommodation, while for those who would like to stay permanently, the National Disaster Management Directorate General will take care of accommodation in cooperation with the county defence committees.

Assistance will also be provided locally to those who apply for temporary protection or residence permits. For them, the National Directorate for Aliens Policing provides information.

Those who are planning to live in Hungary in the longer term can also find information on job opportunities in the BOK hall.
