Tradition has it that the MÁV (‘Hungarian Railways’) Symphony Orchestra opens the new season with a free OPEN DAY concert. The opening of the 2022/2023 season took place in the garden of the Hungarian National Museum in Budapest this Saturday.
Under the baton of conductor Róbert Farkas, the orchestra treated its listeners to enjoyable and entertaining music on this late spring/early summer evening
The program included popular works such as Suppé's Overture to ‘Light Cavalry’; ‘The Sorcerer's Apprentice’ by Dukas; Strauss: ‘The Bat’ – Overture or Bizet: ‘Carmen’ suite.
Róbert Farkas has been the Principal Conductor of the MÁV Symphony Orchestra since the fall of 2021. After graduating from the conducting course at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, he perfected his conducting skills at the Academy of Music in Berlin, and then conducted performances in opera houses in various cities.
