Argentine National Day Reception

The National Day of the Argentine Republic was celebrated with a reception at the Museum of Military History in the Hungarian capital this Wednesday afternoon.

Argentine Ambassador Hernán María Patiño Mayer welcomed members of the diplomatic community in Budapest, those of the Argentinian community in Hungary and others to the event held in the Buda Castle to celebrate his country’s Independence Day.

Known in Argentina as the ‘Día de la Revolución de Mayo’ (Day of the May Revolution), this national day which is celebrated on May 25 every year. The week prior to it is known as May Week and is used to remember the time from May 18 to 25, 1810, when the sequence of political happenings triggered the May Revolution and ultimately helped Argentina achieve its independence from Spain.
