Following a comprehensive renovation, the restored Baroque Hall of the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest opened this Friday, making it possible to visit the three impressive large halls of the building, which evoke the most important architectural style features, simultaneously after almost 80 years.

In addition to the Renaissance Hall and the Romanesque Hall, which opened in 2018 after extensive reconstruction, the newly renovated Baroque Hall, which measures almost 800 square meters, is now also open to the public.

As a statement by the Museum of Fine Arts reminds, the newly inaugurated Baroque Hall has been renovated thanks to the comprehensive renovation and modernization of the museum building.

The renovation of the City Park wing of the institution is practically completed: in the last stage of the reconstruction of the building, the 17th century exhibition halls of the Old Gallery opened at the end of 2021, while those presenting 18th century art were opened to visitors in the spring.

The newly opened museum space also features some 40 sculptures and reliefs related to the architectural style of the hall, including small bronzes from Italian foundries and masterpieces in marble and wood by Venetian masters.

Alongside the sculptures, the public will also be able to admire some 30 paintings from the internationally renowned Italian, Spanish and German collections, showing the stylistic diversity and thematic richness of Baroque painting.

The Baroque Hall, which was opened in 1906, is the closest to the architectural styles of the period, with its historicized interiors.
