Street Ball Celebration at the French Institute

July 8, 2022

This year, the French Institute is once again celebrating the French National Day with a street ball. On July 9, there will be a gastronomic feast and concerts in front of the institute's Danube-side building, according to a statement by the Institute.

Although the Institute was founded in 1947, it moved to its current building on Fő utca in 1992. The 30th anniversary, as well as the building itself and its architectural heritage, will be the focus of workshops starting at 17:00 hours, with creative activities for children and adults. For those who prefer to create digitally, a GIF-making workshop will unleash their imagination.

In the evening, a French-American singer with a special voice, Anna Majidson, will take to the stage. Her album, released after collaborations with Macy Gray and Seu Jorge, has brought her international recognition and success. Songs from this collaboration, as well as from her latest album "La Rivière", with its intimate atmosphere, will be performed at the Street Ball.

As the evening turns to night, the intimate atmosphere is replaced by a dance party as OIEE and his turntables take over the stage and start mixing his sets, which border on electronic and pop music, with songs by French artists – Daft Punk, Stromae, Phoenix – who have previously inspired or are more recently associated with OIEE's musical world.

Late in the evening, we'll bring the atmosphere to its climax with the great French hits of the last decades.
