A replica of a 4th-century guard boat cruises the Roman-heritage settlements along the River Danube. The special ship passed through Budapest in the morning and docked at the University of Technology and Economics.
The aim of the project is to interpret the Danube as a route linking the former Roman Empire. This will include research and exploration of the contemporary potential of Roman monuments along the Danube, and the positioning of cornerstones of a future cultural route.
The lusoria-type guard boat is 18 meters long, 2.8 meters wide and weighs six tons. Launched on July 16 from Germany, it will sail with its crew of twenty-four along the Danube from the Black Forest to the eastern border of Romania, linking the Roman heritage settlements along the Danube.
