Hungary: Goods External Trade Deficit Still Very High

The value of Hungarian exports in EUR terms was 37% and that of Hungarian imports 41% larger in August 2022 than in the same period of the previous, pandemic year, the country’s Central Statistical Office reported this Monday.

The balance of the external trade in goods deteriorated by EUR 582 million. Compared to the previous month, the level of export in goods increased by 6.1% and that of import in goods grew by 5.5%.

In August 2022:
The value of exports amounted to EUR 11,466 million (HUF 4,599 billion) and that of imports to EUR 12,765 million (HUF 5,116 billion).

The deficit of the external trade in goods was EUR 1.3 billion (HUF 517 billion).

The share of EU Member States (EU27_2020) was 75% in exports and 69% in imports.

In August 2022 compared to a year earlier:
The value of exports increased by 37% and that of imports by 41% in EUR terms.
