15 Arab countries showcased their cultural richness through exhibitions, art performances and concerts at the Museum of Ethnography in Budapest on Saturday as part of the Arab Cultural Day.

The event was opened by Hungarian Parliamentary Speaker, László Kövér, who recalled that Magyar relations with the Arab world and culture date back to before the founding of the Hungarian state.

He was of the view that culture – if it is not used as an ideological weapon – is the best healer for the wounds of history and thanked the Arab embassies in Budapest for bringing the values of Arab culture closer to Hungarians with their Saturday event.

Karima Kabbaj, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Hungary and President of the Council of Arab Ambassadors, stressed that culture plays a key role in cooperation between peoples and in the maintenance of their long-term relations. The Hungarian and Arab cultures have long been linked and live in the greatest harmony and harmony, she added.
