World record holder swimmer Kristóf Milák among men and hurdler Luca Kozák among women have been elected as the 2022 Hungarian Athletes of the Year by the Hungarian Sports Journalists' Association.
The men's national football team won the award in the traditional team category, while the women's fencing team came to be the individual team of the year. Among the coaches, it was Marco Rossi, the head coach of the national football team who received the most votes.
The winners of the 65th vote were announced on Monday evening at the Athlete of the Year gala at the Opera House in Budapest.
At the event, attendees stood up to welcome five-time Olympic champion gymnast Ágnes Keleti, the world's oldest Olympic gold medalist, who celebrated her 102nd birthday on the day of the gala and was also present at the ceremony.
