On Wednesday, 4,736 people entered Hungary at the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, while 3,902 of those entering at the Romanian-Hungarian border said they had come from Ukraine, the National Police Headquarters (ORFK) told MTI Thursday morning.

Of those who entered, police issued 117 people with temporary residence permits valid for 30 days. They will have to go to the office of the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing for their place of residence to obtain their permanent documents.

60 people, including seven children, arrived in Budapest by train, fleeing the war in Ukraine, the ORFK added.

The Budapest Police Headquarters said on police.hu that they are working with the Standby Police to help refugees arriving by train from Ukraine. The Budapest Civil Guard Association is also providing support.

They are in constant contact with the National Directorate General for Disaster Management, the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing, the Hungarian State Railways, the Budapest Transport Center, the Budapest Municipal Police Directorate, the Government Office of Budapest and the staff of aid organizations, the statement said.
