957 new infections were confirmed in the past week (867 recorded in the previous week), bringing the total number of identified infections to 2,195,926 since the start of the outbreak, the government's Coronavirus Press Center said on Wednesday.
Six, mostly elderly, chronic patients died last week (down from seven in the previous week), bringing the official total number of deaths in this country to 48,751.
The number of recovered cases increased to 2,183,184 while the number of active infected has fallen to 3,991.
There are currently 361 patients with the new coronavirus infection in hospital in Hungary, 13 of whom are on ventilators – both numbers are higher than in the previous week.
The number of people vaccinated against the coronavirus in Hungary is 6,421,904, of whom 6,209,234 received their second, 3,904,944 their third and 424,357 their fourth vaccination.
According to the statement, the epidemic in Hungary is currently "at a moderate level," thanks in part to the high vaccination rate. It was stressed that unvaccinated people remain the most at risk and are therefore still encouraged to get vaccinated.
