The 20-year record for the lowest maximum temperature in Kékestető, the country’s highest point, was broken on Thursday, the National Meteorological Service said on its website this Friday.
April's winter weather set a new record, with temperatures in Kékestető (in the Mátra mountains, NE Hungary) on April 6 not rising above minus two degrees Celsius, breaking the record for the lowest maximum temperature in the country for that day.
It was noted that the previous record had stood for 20 years and was also set at Kékestető, with a maximum temperature of minus 1.9 degrees Celsius on this day in 2003.
