TRUMPF Hungary Ltd. has opened a new Southeast European headquarters and digitally networked demonstration facility to boost sales of sheet metal working machines for networked manufacturing and lasers for battery technology and the automotive industry. The group plans to reach a turnover of EUR 100 million in the region by the middle of the decade.

The headquarters are in the Gödöllő Industrial Park, with the aim of better serving the region with its digital solutions. "We expect a growing sales market in Hungary in the coming years. This investment will also strengthen our business in countries such as Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia and Turkey," Group CEO Nicola Leibinger-Kammüller said.

Two of TRUMPF's most important business areas are flexible sheet metal working machine tool technologies and industrial laser technologies, but EUV lithography for the production of the latest generation of chips is also an emerging business.

Hungary is the only country other than China where all three premium German car brands – BMW, Audi, Mercedes – are present, for which TRUMPF is a traditional supplier in the field of laser technologies, and the sheet metal forming machine tool business provides services for many Hungarian SMEs, according to Tamás Major, Managing Director of the Hungarian subsidiary TRUMPF Hungary Ltd.

He highlighted that a rationalization process had started in the field of sheet metal working in the last five to six years in family businesses, whereby they are increasingly willing to invest in machines and automation systems that increase the efficiency of production processes. After automation, they have now reached the point where they can further organize their automated systems in the context of Industry 4.0 processes, using software, and make their production more transparent and traceable, the financial news website portfolio.hu reports.
