What can European level cooperation help European and domestic companies to achieve their climate goals and climate adaptation? What partnerships can promote the domestic delivery of the Green Deal's sustainability objectives and the spread of clean technologies and green industries? The high-level delegation meeting held on November 5, 2024, in Hungarian Parliament's office building, timed to coincide with the Hungarian European Presidency, sought answers to these questions, among others.

The National Council for Sustainable Development (NFFT) and the Business Council for Sustainable Development in Hungary (BCSDH) hosted the European Chamber of Technology (EUTECH), whose mission is to provide opportunities for European businesses to use technology for the benefit of Europe. The meeting was also attended by some members of the Net Zero Advisory Board, as well as ministry and university leaders.

On behalf of the host NFFT, Zsombor Barta, Senior Parliamentary Councilor, welcomed the guests. In his opening speech, Florian Von Tucher, President of EUTECH, who led the 7-member delegation, stressed the importance for his organization of cooperation at European level between like-minded and committed regulators and companies on sustainability.

Irén Márta, Director of BCSDH, moderated the meeting, the main objective of which was to strengthen cooperation between European businesses and regulators, emphasizing the sustainability objectives of the Green Deal and the innovation opportunities linked to emerging global technology trends. In her introductory speech, Irén Márta stressed that to halt climate change and adapt to the changing landscape, systemic changes are needed, led by business, but with even closer cooperation with social organizations and regulators. The meeting resulted in a joint initiative for environmental sustainability and innovation. They aim to develop the opportunities for cooperation in the field of clean technologies and green industries identified during the meeting.
