The Budapest Stock Exchange (BÉT) share index, the BUX, closed weekly trading at 105,146.55 points, up 860.41 points or 0.83%. Total turnover fell from HUF 92.57 billion in the previous week to HUF 55.54 billion, with the four leading stocks strengthening during the week, except for Mol, with Magyar Telekom leading the rise.
The BUX closed with a minimal decline on Monday and Tuesday, then reached a new high on Wednesday. Following a minimal decline in the index on Thursday, buyers regained the upper hand on the last day of the week, with both OTP and the BUX closing at historic highs on Friday.
In its weekly summary, published on the financial portal penzcentrum.hu, Equilor Investment Plc. highlighted that, following the flash reporting season, the domestic stock market continued to rise, albeit at a slower pace, with Magyar Telekom leading the way, while the other three blue chips – Mol, OTP, Richter – remained flat.
Magyar Telekom was once again the best performing stock on the BSE, rising 5.5% after a 4.6% increase the previous week, bringing the stock up 10.1 % in two weeks.
The telecommunications stock closed at HUF 1,918 on Friday, with a weekly turnover of HUF 3.8 billion. OTP rose 0.79% and ended trading on Friday at a new high of HUF 30,670, with weekly turnover exceeding HUF 39 billion.
Richter's share price rose 0.29% and closed at HUF 10,510 on Friday, with weekly turnover exceeding HUF 5.3 billion.
Mol's share price fell 0.73% to close at HUF 2,976 on Friday, with weekly turnover of HUF 4.3 billion.
The index of small and medium-sized shares, BUMIX, closed at 9,283.88 points on Friday, up 122.47 points, or 1.34%, from the previous week.
