Family-owned agribusiness Door-Baromfi opened a HUF 2bn poultry farm in Somberek (SW Hungary) on Thursday.
Half of the investment cost was covered by Hungarian taxpayers through a government grant.
Door-Baromfi owner János Door said the company took out an HUF 800 million loan and used HUF 200 million of its own resources for the investment. The four poultry houses, each with an area of 2,200 sqm, will accommodate 160,000 chickens and turn out 1 million broilers a year, he added.
At present, Door-Baromfi raises about half a million chickens a year.
Door-Baromfi targets revenue of HUF 1 billion in 2025, up from HUF 550 million in 2024, Door said. It targets turnover of HUF 2 billion in 2026, he added.
