An independent foundation was established to operate the ZalaZONE vehicle proving ground in Zalaegerszeg (SW Hungary) on Tuesday, MTI reports.
A ceremonial inaugural meeting of the ZalaZONE Foundation took place at the ZalaZone Automotive Test Track Conference Center in Zalaegerszeg this Tuesday. The ZalaZONE Foundation was established as a legally, professionally and physically independent entity to operate and develop the automotive test track and its environment.
László Palkovics, who heads the ZalaZONE Foundation's board of trustees, said the foundation would not be bound to any single university or vehicle manufacturer as the goal was to "serve everybody."
Governing party lawmakers earlier approved the establishment of a foundation to operate ZalaZONE, acknowledging the international standing of the proving ground, but arguing that ZalaZONE's further development required an even broader cooperation with universities, research institutions, state developers and private companies, served by the establishment of an independent framework in which to operate.
