At this year's Procurement Bar event, the Sustainable Procurement Awards were once again presented to recognize outstanding players in the domestic procurement and sustainability industry, rewarding domestic companies and procurement teams with responsible, ethical, and environmentally conscious procurement practices.

The award was decided by an independent professional jury. During the evaluation of the nominees, aspects such as systematic operation (strategic approach, transparency, innovation, the development of supplier cooperation, and the management of social and environmental impacts) and the implementation of outstanding sustainable procurement practices were examined.

This year's main prize was won by Ericsson Hungary Ltd. for its outstanding systematic approach and consistent implementation. Ericsson's supplier cooperation program is based on reducing emissions across the entire supply chain: supplier selection and program effectiveness are measured on an emissions basis, and partners are required to set public reduction targets. Ninety-three percent of the suppliers involved have already committed to these targets.

Schneider Electric Hungary received a special award for its partnership-focused sustainable procurement practices. Schneider Electric achieves carbon footprint reduction through extensive supplier involvement and development, with a dedicated project and communications team. The wide range of partners involved and the company's commitment provide a scalable, replicable model for others.

Magyar Telekom Plc. received a certificate of recognition in the green energy category. The application demonstrates the consistent promotion of clean energy use. Together with its parent company, Telekom operates a transparent system (risk assessment, supplier expectations, audits), while also encouraging good practices with its own supplier award for decades.

Engel Hungária Aluminium Foundry Ltd. received a certificate of recognition for its commitment to sustainable procurement and continuous improvement. The company has introduced large-scale systems and forward-looking measures, consistently building on the implementation and development of sustainable procurement.

Suprajit Hungary Ltd. also received a certificate of recognition for its exemplary commitment. The company has consciously, systematically and systematically embarked on the path of sustainable procurement. This stable foundation is the key to measurable results in the future.

The jury highlighted the high standard of the applications, the pursuit of a systematic approach, the tangible commitment to sustainability, the emission reduction efforts of domestic procurement teams, and examples of well-functioning partnerships. All of these are key to building and strengthening sustainable procurement.

"A few years ago, it was still a question of why and how to integrate sustainability considerations into procurement processes; today, a systemic approach has emerged in all applicants. Unsurprisingly, the highlighted practices were all organized around climate change and carbon footprint reduction," said Mandy Fertetics, chair of the jury and managing director of Alternate Consulting Hungary.
