Around HUF 300 million of tourism investments are starting in Makó (SE Hungary) involving funds from the European Union, the local municipality told MTI.
According to the announcement, part of the project involves renovating the dilapidated outdoor stage and auditorium of the Hagymaház ('onion house') spa in order to revive the Makó Summer program series. The outdoor stage of the organic-style building designed by Imre Makovecz has decayed and is dangerous. Over the next two years, the stage will be rebuilt, and the chairs of the 1,200-seat mobile auditorium and the stage equipment will be partially replaced.
The Hagymatikum Spa is the most important tourist attraction in the town and the region. In order to improve the comfort of guests arriving at the spa, new parking spaces will be created behind the Hagymaház, including parking spaces for people with disabilities, with the necessary traffic signs and boards, they wrote.
During the project, which will be completed by the end of 2027, new attractions will be purchased and installed in the Adventure Park on the banks of the Maros River. The development will greatly increase the appeal of the leisure facility, which opened in 2012, among families with children and young people, providing additional active leisure opportunities for spa guests, according to the announcement.
