Among other special items, a rare, limited edition Alessi piece based on designs by Salvador Dalí will be on display at the exhibition 'Design Icons – Yesterday and Today' at the m21 Gallery in the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter in Pécs, S Hungary, between December 12 and March 1.

Zsolnay Heritage Management Ltd., which operates the gallery, wrote in a statement sent to MTI that the exhibition brings together the past, present and future of design, as it "brings together the works of iconic international masters, legendary Hungarian and foreign designers, and NUBU Studio, which shapes the world of contemporary fashion, creating a dialogue between functionality, aesthetics and artistic vision."

The key piece of the exhibition is Salvador Dalí's limited edition work L'Objet inutile, designed for the Alessi Design Factory, which draws attention to the connection and border areas between design and fine art. The three-part exhibition is organized around this piece and features works by iconic international masters of design, as well as collections from NUBU Studio, well known in the international fashion world for creating a common language between fine art and fashion.

The exhibition features outstanding pieces of museum furniture from the VA Design Studio, such as the most famous furniture designs by Marcel Breuer, Le Corbusier, Eileen Gray, Gerrit Rietveld, and Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Borek Sipek's postmodern and Philippe Starck's timeless design objects from the 1990s, as well as the works of other iconic designers from Alessi, such as Alessandro Mendini, Zaha Hadid, Ettore Sottsass and Frank Gehry.
