The 2024 tourism record has already been achieved in 11 months this year, with the number of guests registered at accommodation facilities reaching 18,226,413 on December 2, breaking last year's record for the entire year, Visit Hungary Nonprofit Plc. told MTI.
According to Visit Hungary, further strong interest is expected until the end of the year, during the traditionally busy Christmas and New Year period, making 2025 another successful year in the history of Hungarian tourism.
According to the information provided, guest traffic between January and the first days of December this year exceeded last year's results for the same period by 7%. The gross revenue of accommodation facilities exceeded the value measured in the same period of 2024 by 12%, while the turnover of catering establishments exceeded it by 9%.
The distribution of guests was balanced nationwide, with foreign and domestic travelers arriving in equal proportions. Budapest was chosen by 38% of guests, while the Balaton region remains one of the most visited rural destinations, offering attractive programs in all seasons, according to the information provided.
