The Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE) share index, the BUX, rose this week amid growing turnover, with the BUX closing at 110,405.74 points on Friday, 0.73% higher than a week earlier.
Weekly turnover was HUF 185.23 billion, following HUF 83.09 billion the previous week, with leading shares strengthening during the week, except for Mol, and OTP reaching a new historic high on Friday.
Equilor Investment Ltd. highlighted in its weekly summary sent to MTI: It is good news for Richter that the patent protection for their blockbuster drug, Vraylar, has been extended by six months based on a decision by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), giving the company more time to launch a new product on the market. Based on this decision, Richter can earn an additional USD 450 million in royalty income, which represents a value of approximately HUF 450 per share.
Among the events of the week, Equilor mentioned that, according to Mol, the repair work on the Danube Refinery is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2026. Based on the damage assessment, the fire was caused by a technical malfunction and the resulting structural damage and rupture of a pump, and gross negligence, intentional damage, or other external factors can be ruled out as possible causes. Mol forecasts an average production loss of approximately 30% during the renovation period, which may vary from time to time.
Among the leading stocks this week, OTP's share price rose by 2.62%, closing at a new historic high of HUF 35,300 on Friday, with weekly turnover exceeding HUF 77.46 billion.
Magyar Telekom's share price rose 2.60% during the week, closing at HUF 1,816 on Friday, with weekly turnover of HUF 4.25 billion.
Richter's share price rose by 0.26% during the week, closing at HUF 9,735 on Friday, with weekly turnover exceeding HUF 12.96 billion.
Mol's share price fell by 3.95% during the week, closing at HUF 2,824 on Friday, with weekly turnover of HUF 9.74 billion.
The BUMIX index of small and medium-sized shares closed at 10,018.22 points on Friday, down 26.13 points, or 0.26%, from the previous week.
