Hungary's Gov't Sector Deficit at HUF 909 Bn in Q3 2025

Hungary's government sector had a HUF 909 billion deficit in the third quarter of 2025, equivalent to 4.2% of GDP, MTI quotes data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Tuesday.

Government sector revenue rose 6.3% to HUF 8,875 billion, while expenditures climbed 6.8% to HUF 9,783 billion.

For the period Q1-Q3, the government sector had a deficit of HUF 1,219 billion, equivalent to 1.9% of GDP.

Revenue rose 8.8% to HUF 27,585 billion and expenditures increased 4.0% to HUF 28,804 billion.

Revenue from social insurance contributions climbed 9.2% to HUF 6,777 billion and revenue from taxes on production and imports increased 7.8% to HUF 10,985 billion, including VAT revenue of HUF 6,021 billion, up 11.6%.

On the expenditure side, investment spending fell 4.5% to HUF 1,825 billion and interest expenditures declined 14.4% to HUF 2,560 billion. Social benefits other than social transfers in kind increased 6.7% to HUF 7,096 billion.
