The 45th Hungarian Film Festival, held from February 2 to 8, will feature 220 films screened at Budapest's Corvin Cinema and the Inga Cultural Cafe, organizers said on Thursday.

Festival director András Muhi said that over 450 submissions have been received, adding that the event would "present the broadest spectrum of Hungarian films produced last year."

This year, films will compete in ten categories, including one for video clips, the festival director said. Documentaries will be divided into scientific, educational and portrait subcategories, he added.

At the press conference, András Muhi paid tribute to recently deceased film director Béla Tarr, a former organizer of the event. He noted that Tarr was handed the festival's life achievement award last year, adding that "he will be sorely missed."
