Express One Hungary Acquires SAMEDAY

Express One Hungary, an express delivery company owned by Austrian Post Group, has acquired local peer Delivery Solutions, which operates the SAMEDAY brand, Austrian Post Group said late Monday.

With this transaction, all Sameday employees, customers, infrastructure, and 1,100 parcel machines will be transferred to Express One, making the company one of Hungary's largest operators of parcel machines and parcel points, they wrote.

SAMEDAY was founded in 2007 and also operates in Romania under the same name. It has been present in Hungary since 2020 through its subsidiary Delivery Solutions Ltd. The company, which employs 230 people, provides parcel logistics for eMAG, among others, handles seven-digit parcel volumes on a monthly basis, and achieved sales of more than EUR 22 million in its last financial year, the statement pointed out.

Express One Hungary, formerly known as trans-o-flex Hungary Ltd. has been a key player in the Hungarian parcel logistics market for nearly 30 years. The company, which employs nearly 280 people, is responsible for the daily delivery of 120,000 parcels domestically and regionally.

According to Walter Oblin, CEO of Austrian Post, the acquisition strengthens the group's position in Hungary, creating a stable foundation for innovation and growth, and demonstrates the company's readiness to expand in Southeast and Eastern Europe.

In the announcement, Lucian Baltaru, CEO of Sameday Group, was of the view that the transaction will support the company's growth by concentrating resources more efficiently. "Hungary was the first international market where we launched our operations, and the experience we gained there provided valuable lessons and contributed to our subsequent regional expansion," he said.

Péter Pesztericz, emphasized that the merger will significantly increase the company's market coverage and logistics capacities in the growing parcel logistics market, noting that the company will move into its new 13,900-square-meter parcel processing center in July.

The deal will close pending regulatory approval.
