Peugeot, the Stellantis group's best-selling brand, still ranked eighth in the European new car market in 2025 with sales of 546,000 cars, while Chinese players are arriving one after another; maintaining market share this year poses a variety of challenges for the French brand, Peugeot's brand director, Gábor Rémi said at a press conference in Budapest.

Peugeot performed well in the Hungarian new car market in 2025, with 3,484 passenger cars and light commercial vehicles sold, representing an 18.6% increase. This gave the brand a 2.28% share in Hungary, where a total of 153,105 new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were sold last year, amid 4.6% market growth.

Of the new Peugeots sold, 72%, or 2,514 vehicles, were passenger cars, while 970 were commercial vehicles, with sales of the former rising by 32% and the latter falling by 6.4% in 2025.

The vast majority of Peugeot sales, 78%, were hybrid vehicles last year, and the proportion of gasoline and diesel vehicles remains high at over 9-9%. Peugeot sold 62 passenger cars and 79 commercial vehicles with electric drives, with strong growth in both categories.
