Spar Hungary has modernized one hypermarket and two supermarkets at a total cost of over HUF 4.3 billion; all three stores reopened on Thursday, the company told MTI.
The company reopened its Interspar store in Veszprém (W Hungary); during the nearly HUF 2.8 billion investment, the floor space of the more than 4,000-square-meter sales area remained unchanged, but the store’s entire furnishings and layout were renewed. The hypermarket provides jobs for 77 employees.
In Gyöngyös, E Hungary, the 820-square-meter Spar supermarket was renovated with an investment of nearly HUF 900 million; 27 employees welcome customers here.
The 760-square-meter supermarket in Győr (NW Hungary) was completed with a HUF 660 million investment. Twenty employees work at the store.
Energy-efficient LED lighting has been installed in all three stores, and an environmentally friendly cooling system has been implemented; the new refrigeration units reduce energy consumption while ensuring a more stable temperature for food products.
According to publicly available company data, Spar Magyarország Kereskedelmi Kft.’s net sales revenue was HUF 924.4 billion in 2024, up from HUF 882.7 billion the previous year; the company posted a profit of HUF 24.7 billion in 2024, and HUF 18.2 billion in 2023.
