All Votes Counted, Tisza Takes Supermajority

With all votes cast in the April 12 general election counted, the Tisza Party will have 141 representatives in Hungary's 199-seat parliament, giving the party a comfortable two-thirds majority with 70.85%, data from the National Election Office released late Saturday show.

The Fidesz-KDNP alliance will have 52 representatives (26.13%) and Our Homeland ('Mi Hazánk') six (3.02%).

Tisza's mandates include 96 from individual constituencies and 45 from national party lists.

Fidesz's mandates comprise ten from individual constituencies and 42 from national party lists.

All six of Our Homeland's mandates are from national party lists.

In Hungary's parliament, 106 mandates come from individual constituencies and 93 from national party lists.

Results of the list voting show Tisza took 3,385,890 votes, 53.18% of the total. Fidesz-KDNP had 2,458,337 votes (38.61%) and Our Homeland 358,372 votes (5.63%).

The data show 337,439 Hungarians voted by post and 335,595 of those ballots were valid. Fidesz-KDNP took 84.23% of the postal votes, Tisza 13.82% and Our Homeland 1.45%. There were 494,244 Hungarians registered to vote by mail.

The turnout rate for voters with a Hungarian address was 79.69%. The participation rate for all eligible voters, inlcuding mail voters, was 78.99%.

The election results may still be contested.
