HungaroMet, the national weather service, on Tuesday said it will establish Hungary’s first climate adaptation network to support the European Union's Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change. The network aims to foster broad cooperation by connecting sectoral and regional stakeholders, they said.

The initiative, part of the EU-funded AdaptationHubs project, will align with similar networks across member states. HungaroMet will coordinate the Hungarian network, involving public administration, scientific, economic and civil society actors to create a collaborative platform across national, regional and local levels, they said in a statement.

Its goal is to support coordinated planning and implementation of adaptation measures, linking scientific knowledge, practical experience and policy processes. The project also includes a cross-regional programme to facilitate both domestic and cross-border knowledge exchange, HungaroMet added.

The AdaptationHubs project seeks to improve the coordination and effectiveness of adaptation actions, reducing the vulnerability of society and the economy to the impacts of climate change in the long term, the statement said
