The nationwide initiative known as the Tourism eAcademy has been launched, aimed at strengthening the digital competencies of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises operating in the tourism sector. The project is funded by a non-repayable European Union grant of HUF 1.2 trillion from the Digital Renewal Operational Program Plus (DIMOP Plus), the Hungarian Tourism Association Foundation (MTSZA) told MTI.

The development, led by the MTSZA, will create a new digital competence center that provides a modern e-learning platform, digital learning materials and professional services for industry stakeholders.

The comprehensive digital platform offers content and learning management functions as well as community and e-commerce features.

The program aims to promote digitization and the introduction of artificial intelligence-based solutions, thereby increasing the competitiveness of tourism businesses, they wrote.

With nationwide coverage, the project — to be implemented between October 2025 and May 2027 — will involve the creation of digital learning materials in addition to IT developments, and will also make competency development and mentoring services available to SMEs.

The initiative contributes to increasing the efficiency and competitiveness of domestic tourism businesses, they announced.

The consortium members are the Hungarian Bocuse d’Or Academy Association, the Association of Hungarian Event Organizers and Service Providers, the Pannon Gastronomic Academy Association, and the Stylish Rural Restaurants Association.
