Christian Dickert has been appointed CEO of Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary and head of production at the German car maker's plant in Kecskemét from May 1, the company's local unit said on Wednesday.

A mechanical engineer by training, he has been with Mercedes-Benz since 2011. Over the course of his career, he has gained extensive management experience in various areas at the Sindelfingen and Bremen plants in Germany. Among other things, he headed the "Operational Excellence and Sustainability" division at Mercedes Operations and managed the units responsible for assembling high-end models in Sindelfingen – such as those produced at Factory 56.

Christian Dickert took over on May 1 from Jens Bühler who had led the Kecskemét plant from January 2024 to April 2026 and will now assume the position of managing director at Beijing Benz Automotive Co. Ltd.

Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Ltd. began operations in Kecskemét in 2012. Currently, the new electric vehicles are manufactured on the same production line as conventionally powered vehicles at the existing plant. Series production of the new GLB equipped with EQ technology began in early 2026.

The expansion currently underway is taking place on the existing factory grounds and will increase the plant’s total area to approximately 400 hectares. Two entirely new buildings are being constructed to house the new body and assembly lines.

In February 2026 – on the occasion of Mercedes-Benz’s 140th anniversary – the management of the Kecskemét-based company announced that its workforce had reached 5,000 employees.
