National Heat Record Broken at 37.1 Degrees Celsius

The national heat record in Hungary for June 20 was broken on Saturday at 37.1 degrees Celsius according to preliminary data, the weather service HungaroMet said on its sociuial media page.

A temperature of 37.1 degrees Celsius was recorded in Aszód, near Budapest, on Saturday afternoon, the weather service said.

They added that this also marks a new record for the summer season.

According to HungaroMet’s data, the previous record for this day was 37.0 degrees Celsius.

It was recorded in Nyíregyháza, in northeastern Hungary, and Szerep, in eastern Hungary, in 1908, as well as in the northern Budapest district of Újpest in 2013.
