The ZalaZONE automotive test track, located in SW Hungary, will be re-nationalized from July at the latest, Márta Nagy, an MP of the governing Tisza Party said on social media on Wednesday, MTI reports.
The ZalaZone is expected to be overseen by the Ministry of Science and Technology, although there is no final decision yet, she added.
The MP consulted with Minister of Science and Technology Zoltán Tanács, who visited the test track last week and met the ZalaZONE's professional management.
The test track was transferred by the former government to a public interest asset management foundation – known by its Hungarian acronym KEKVA, and based on regulations passed by the new government, it will be re-nationalized from July at the latest, Márta Nagy said.
After the takeover, the ministry in charge of its professional management will conduct a thorough review of the companies of the ZalaZONE, its management, operation, utilization and financing "since under the previous government, suspicions of inappropriate use of public funds arose in many similar large investment projects," the MP pointed out.
