Hungarian property developer Indotek Group purchased the remaining 53% stake in Auchan Magyarország from Auchan Retail International to become sole owner of the company that owns and operates the retail chain, Indotek said on Friday.
Indotek added that it the financed acquisition from internal funds. The sides did not reveal the value of the transaction.
In a statement sent to MTI, Indotek Group stated that its corporate strategy and management will remain unchanged. The decision by Indotek Group – which had previously focused primarily on expanding abroad – signals that, as an investor, it once again sees long-term growth opportunities in the Hungarian market.
Indotek acquired 47% of Auchan Magyarország at the end of 2024.
Auchan Magyarország operates 19 hypermarkets, 2 superstores, 3 supermarkets, 19 filling stations, a webstore and an automated AuchanGO outlet. It employs 5,400 workers in Hungary and had revenue of HUF 500 billion in 2025.
Auchan Retail operates in 12 countries and, through its 2,896 retail locations, covers all major formats in the food and non-food retail sectors, ranging from convenience stores to supermarkets and hypermarkets.
