Balaton Shipping Co. (Bahart), which is celebrating its 180th anniversary this year, is welcoming passengers through the end of August with extended peak-season service, a more frequent schedule, and popular program boats, the company informed MTI in a press release this week.
The shipping company’s scheduled ferry services connect 16 towns around Lake Balaton, with daily departures during the peak season.
This anniversary year, families can travel on Bahart ferries at even lower fares than last year, and tickets can be purchased in advance, including online.
Bahart’s sightseeing boats are available at 15 ports. Among the special-event boats: the Kids’ Boat departs from eight ports, the Party Boat from nine ports, the evening Chill Boat from Siófok and Balatonfüred, and the Kalap Jakab concert boat — which entertains the youngest passengers — from three ports on the southern shore.
According to the company, program boats related to the evening fireworks and lakeside events will operate during the August 20 holiday weekend.
Bahart’s ships, owned by the state and local governments, carried 730,000 passengers in the first half of this year, exceeding last year’s record figures by 1–2%, the press release states, noting that the spring holidays brought exceptional results, while the heat wave in June slightly dampened the desire to travel.
